Blood Systems, Inc. (BSI) received Authority approval of their financing application in an amount not to exceed $4.5 million. BSI is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization licensed by the FDA as a provider of blood and blood services. BSI is known more commonly by the name of its blood banking division, United Blood Services. BSI meets the blood needs of patients in more than 600 hospitals in a geographic area covering one third of the United States.

The proposed structure involves a direct placement with Wells Fargo Brokerage Services for the entire amount. BSI proposes to utilize the funds to purchase blood testing and storing equipment, audio visual and training equipment, and refinancing the outstanding principal amount of the Authority's Health Facilities Revenue Bond (Blood Systems, Inc. Project), Series 2000.
